About Raquel Brown

After graduating from Southern Adventist University in Tennessee with a Bachelor of Art in Art Therapy and a Minor in Psychology in December of 2015, I continued on to pursue a Master of Science Degree in School Counseling. During graduate school, I worked at a Residential Child and Adolescent Behavioral Hospital as a Mental Health Technician and as a Disability Support Services Representative at my alma matter. I completed 800 school counseling internship hours between the elementary, middle, and high school settings. Then, in November of 2017, I relocated with my husband to France and taught English as a second language to children ages 2-10, completing my final masters degree class abroad in the summer of 2018.

In 2019, my husband and I returned to the United States, and I received a position working as one of the first Professional School Counselors to service private schools through Catapult Learning in Central Florida. I worked with K-12 students in seven culturally distinctive private schools over the span of the two years that I worked with Catapult Learning. I did individual counseling and small group counseling at each school, while also consulting with the academic leadership teams as needed. In 2021, I relocated with my husband once again, to Georgetown Texas, but this time with the intention of growing roots. I served as an Elementary School Counselor in Austin ISD from 2021-2022 through a rapid influx of Afghan refugees and created ambassador programs and peace projects to help students integrate. I then secured a position as an Elementary School Counselor in Georgetown ISD near my home in 2022 - present. In January 2023, I began working on my Post Graduate Clinical Mental Health Counseling Certification, and in March of 2024, excitedly launched my private practice: Transform Insight Therapy, PLLC.

My professional experiences have given me a foundational understanding of individuals as systems and exposed me to diverse cultural outlooks, allowing me to remain non-bias in a number of settings. I appreciate the differences that each individual brings with them when they enter into the therapeutic alliance with me, and I respect their right to believe and think openly about the world around them. I have sought additional training in Internal Family Systems (IFS) to further my practice, and am always looking for opportunities to continue growing as a professional. I have a deep understanding of early childhood development, adolescence, adulthood, and ongoing relationship dynamics throughout the lifespan. I have worked with non-profit organizations within Williamson and Travis County to help individuals and families receive a number of resources, and I am deeply passionate about my work as a therapist. I will do everything in my power to provide a safe, welcoming, and warm environment for you to heal, grow, and transform insight.
